Marron Bacoba  Solanum conocarpum

This is an attractive shrub getting up to 10' in height, appropriate for slightly shaded locations.  It prefers to do its tanning in the morning and then spend the rest of the day in the shade.

Marron bacoba is indigenous to dry low-elevation coastal forests on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

It is severely threatened due to limited range and habitat destruction.  It is currently being considered by the  US Fish & Wildlife Service for potential addition to the CITES list of endangered species.

The ones we are growing came from seed collected from a plant cultivated by the legendary Dr. Gary Ray at his native plant nursery in St. John.

We have a limited quantity available in 3-gal. containers.
