Krug's Holly Ilex krugiana Wonderful medium-sized tree, guaranteed to bring wildlife to your yard. You may plant it in full sun, or in a partially shaded area, like at the edge of your forest, and plan for it to get as tall as 40 feet, or so. New growth is dark red.
Below are two photos of one that is about 15 feet tall. The photo at right is a close-up of the one at left.
Trim it to encourage it to develop a nice canopy, or let it go wild. Don't worry, it is a tame kind of wild. There are both male and female trees, but you won't find the males jumping the fence on moonlit spring nights to get at the females. They depend on little Cupids to pass back and forth their proclamations of love. Here is a photo of the flowers on the female tree.
We've got 'em in 3-gal. and 10-gal. pots (below, about 5 feet high, planted).
Call today to reserve a few for your forest. |
