Florida Boxwood  Schaefferia frutescens

Here is a great shrubby tree (which means that it can be maintained as either a shrub or a tree, depending on your particular application).

Florida is salt tolerant, and thrives in the rocky, alkaline soil that we have around here.

The insignificant flowers, produced in early rainy season, turn into red berries later in the season.

The fruits look like little cinnamon-flavored candies.

Birds will find time in their busy schedules to flutter in for a quick snack.

Florida boxwood is ideal for screening in understory situations.  It may be kept trimmed at whatever height you desire, from 4' and up.  Or, you may let it develop into a small tree up to 25 feet high.

We've got some nice ones in 3-gal. (at right) and 7-gal. (below).  Come on in and check 'em out.
